PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Substance addiction is often a chronic, relapsing illness which impacts every aspect of an individual’s mental and physical health and well-being. It’s not uncommon to find that people suffering with substance addictions also often have mental health problems. It is critical that an integrated approach utilizing both psychiatric and addiction treatment modalities be used to treat dual disorders.
CEUs: 1.5 CEUs for Missouri Social Workers and Missouri Addiction Counselors. A Certificate of Attendance verifying 1.5 clock hours will be awarded for other disciplines to submit to their licensing boards.
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS: Raafea F. Malik, MD is the Medical Director of The Changing Pointe Addiction Treatment Center at CenterPointe Hospital and the Medical Director for adult psychiatry and dual diagnosis treatment at CenterPointe’s St. Peters Outpatient Program. Dr. Malik has provided psychiatric treatment services at CenterPointe Hospital for 14 years.
Dr. Malik is board certified in psychiatry and addiction psychiatry. She completed her residency in adult psychiatry at Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center in 1996 and she earned her medical degree in 1987.
Candace (Candi) Finan, MA, LPC, NCC, NBCCH has worked at CenterPointe Hospital since 2006 as the Clinical Supervisor for the Residential Addiction Treatment Program.
Candi has a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University and has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2005. Candi completed a post graduate certification in clinical hypnotherapy through Lindenwood University in 2014.
