Scott Williams, MBA
Chief Executive Officer
Scott Williams has held corporate and senior executive level positions in several prestigious behavioral health companies with multi-state, multi-facility operations over the past 20 years. He has provided leadership in treatment facilities serving a wide range of inpatient and outpatient treatment programs for all age groups.
Scott is highly regarded as an innovative and effective leader and change agent with extensive experience in working with leadership teams to develop efficient and successful businesses. He has repeatedly been invited to serve on or lead state-wide health systems of care planning committees and is dedicated to serving the community’s behavioral health needs.
Scott earned an undergraduate degree in psychology and Masters in Business Administration. He is experienced in financial management, efficiency, leadership, performance improvement, and compliance.
CenterPointe Hospital is fortunate to have a Chief Executive Officer who brings the depth and breadth of experience and leadership in behavioral health treatment that Scott provides to our senior management team and staff. Scott is also a strong community advocate for mental health and addiction treatment and works closely with community partners to provide a quality continuum of treatment services that benefit the patients we mutually serve.
Anita Ali, MBA
Chief Financial Officer
Anita Ali has worked in the finance department at CenterPointe Hospital since 2006. Previously, Anita had a finance role with Malik & Associates since 2001. Anita has a MBA in Finance.
Azfar Malik, MD, MBA, DFAPA
Chief Medical Officer
Azfar M. Malik, MD, MBA, DFAPA, is a board-certified psychiatrist. He is the Chief Medical Officer of CenterPointe Hospital and the Chief Executive Officer of CenterPointe Behavioral Health Services.
Dr. Malik earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1978 from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He is licensed by the state of Missouri and certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He earned his Master’s in Business Administration from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.
Dr. Malik is the Principal Investigator and President of Psych Care Consultants, LLC. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Psychiatry Department at St. Louis University Health Science Center. He has also been involved in multiple clinical research trials for psychiatric disorders.
Karen Kasten, LCSW
Chief Operating Officer & Clinical Director
Karen Kasten, MSW, LCSW is the Chief Operating Officer and Clinical Director for both inpatient and outpatient programs at CenterPointe Hospital. Karen has worked in the behavioral health field for 23 years with a wide range of populations, including children, adolescents, adults and older adults in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Karen earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from St. Louis University, a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Central Missouri University and she has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1995.
Karen is highly dedicated to helping individuals who suffer from mental health issues, and to that end, she has developed an effective and dynamic continuum of treatment programs at CenterPointe Hospital.
Lauren Cook, RN
Director of Nursing
Lauren has been a Registered Nurse since 1979 and received her nursing degree in Long Island, New York. Her early career focused on the fundamentals of cardiac care, working in ICU and functioning as a member of the Code Blue Team. Shortly after receiving her degree, her nursing and leadership skills led to her being a Charge Nurse, first in Critical Care and then over a 32-bed free standing psychiatric hospital in Kansas City. She has served in lead roles over forensic programs and dual diagnosis programs.
Lauren has been a dedicated and valued nursing leader at CenterPointe Hospital since 2003, earning the respect and admiration of her nursing staff and colleagues. She is a tenacious advocate for the delivery of quality healthcare and seems to have endless energy dedicated towards this purpose.
Jim O’Malley, MA, LPC
Director of Assessment & Referral
Jim manages the assessment and referral department at CenterPointe Hospital. Being the first point of contact for individuals and families seeking treatment, Jim and his staff bring compassion and understanding to the individuals and families who enter our hospital daily.
Jim has worked in the behavioral health field for twelve years, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor, as well as a certified in substance abuse treatment. Jim received a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from McKendree College.
Director of Human Resources
Kelli White is the Director of Human Resources at CenterPointe Hospital. Kelli has been an integral part of the CenterPointe Hospital management team for ten years. She possesses over 30 years of human resource experience, providing guidance and leadership to both management and staff.
Kelli’s broad range of experience includes employee relations, benefits, recruitment, on-boarding and retention programs in the healthcare industry. Kelli has been instrumental in implementing human resources management policies and strategies that enable CenterPointe hospital to recruit, train and retain a highly motivated workforce in the unique behavioral health industry.
Jennifer Bourn, BS, RHIT
Director of Health Information Management/Performance Improvement & Risk Management
Jennifer has worked in the behavioral health field for eighteen years and has served as the Director of Health Information (HIM) and Medical Staff Services at CenterPointe Hospital for sixteen years. Along with managing the HIM Department, Jennifer has served as the HIPAA Privacy Officer for thirteen years to ensure compliance with all HIPAA laws.
Jennifer is also responsible for developing, implementing and directing organization-wide risk management & performance improvement programs and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards including CMS, Joint Commission and state licensure standards.
Jennifer earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Maryville University. She is a member of the St. Charles Community College Advisory Board for their Health Information Technology Program, and is a current member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Sheila Hunt, MA, LPC
Regional Director of Business Development
Sheila Hunt, MA, LPC is the Regional Director of Business Development for CenterPointe Behavioral Health System. Sheila has worked in the behavioral health field for over thirty years in clinical, administrative, and business development roles.
She has worked in business development positions with a variety of clinical populations including, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Sheila earned a Master’s of Arts Degree in Counseling from Antioch New England Graduate School and completed All But Dissertation on a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
Ms. Hunt is known for her strong advocacy for mental health treatment and as a community educator for mental health issues.
Michelle Knudson, Pharm. D.
Director of Pharmacy Services
Michelle Knudson, Pharm.D. joined CenterPointe Hospital as Director of Pharmacy Services in March 2017. Michelle has previous experience as a Staff and Acute Care Pharmacist and has a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
System Revenue Cycle Director
Shannon Contreras joined CenterPointe Hospital as CBHS Revenue Cycle Director in August 2016. Previously, Shannon has been in several Business Office/Revenue Cycle management roles in Behavioral Health systems.
Irshad Khan, BS
Director of Provider Relations
Irshad Khan was promoted to Director of Provider Relations at CenterPointe Hospital in July 2017. Irshad has been in a provider relations role with CenterPointe Hospital since 2003. Irshad has a BS in Business Administration.
Steven Calicutt, MBA
Director of Information Technology
Steven Calicutt joined CenterPointe Hospital as Director of Information Technology in September 2017. Steven has previous experience with information security, applications, and system/network optimization. Steven has a MBA in Business Administration and a BS in Information System Management.
Director of Facilities
Jim Haalboom has been the Director of Facilities for CenterPointe Hospital since 2015. Jim came to CenterPointe Hospital in 2013 as a Manager of Facilities Department and has extensive experience in plant operations.
