David Strother, Director of Valor Recovery Program at Signature Psychiatric Hospital spoke passionately on the topic, “Trauma and the Brain” to an audience of 250 participants at CenterPointe Hospital on Friday, January 25, 2019.
Located at Signature Psychiatric Hospital in North Kansas City, the Valor Recovery Program is dedicated to providing trauma and addiction treatment to those who serve our community and our nation- specifically, active duty military, veterans and first responders (police, EMT, fire/rescue).
Valor’s Director, David Strother, LSCW, is a Marine Corps veteran and former firefighter and is a recognized expert in treating trauma, PTSD, sexual assault and substance use in military members and first responders. Valor’s curriculum meets all requirements established by the U.S. Department of Defense for addiction/trauma treatment, as well as the most current evidence based practices for treating trauma and addiction. The program also includes an equine therapy program called “Horses and Heroes”, a therapy dog on the unit and physical training at a state-of-the-art fitness center.
